Eighty-three Oklahoma State University alumni and their businesses were celebrated March 29 during the 2024 Cowboy100 Honoree Gala, which recognizes the fastest-growing and top 10 revenue-generating Cowboy-owned and Cowboy-led businesses.
The Cowboy100 recognizes outstanding entrepreneurship throughout OSU’s alumni base. Hosted by the Riata Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the gala raises funds for the Riata Center’s student programs and activities. It also serves as an additional resource for students to engage with industry leaders and for the Riata Center to become the reference point for entrepreneurship throughout the university.
“This year’s Cowboy100 was by far the best gala to date,” said Chad Mills, director of the Riata Center. “The energy that the honorees and their guests arrived with was infectious and could be felt throughout the entire space. With over 300 people in attendance, it was great to see the interactions between returning and new honorees. We are already thinking about next year’s gala and how we can elevate the honorees experience.”
The third class of Cowboy100 honorees included 83 businesses from 14 states, and the companies combined for $14.5 billion in revenue generated. A diverse group of Cowboy-owned businesses included 21 women-owned, 10 minority-owned and two veteran-owned companies. A complete list of this year’s honorees is available at the Cowboy100 website.
Coterie Media was No. 1 in the Cowboy100, earning the number one spot for the fastest-growing company. Coterie was founded by Carey Warren, a 1985 graduate of the OSU College of Arts and Sciences. From startups to Fortune 500 companies, the Coterie team excels at building innovative marketing, public relations, promotional and advertising programs that propel their clients forward.
Twin Eagle, a leading North American energy marketer with a focus on natural gas, earned the top spot in the Blazing10 for the third consecutive time. The Blazing10 recognizes the 10 highest revenue-generating OSU-owned or OSU-led businesses from within the Cowboy100 honorees. The company was founded in 2010 by Spears School of Business alums Chuck Watson (1972) and Griff Jones (1991). Spears alum Jeremy Davis (1996) is president and chief executive officer.
“As everyone recognized knows, entrepreneurs make this country what it is today,” Davis said. “Many of the ideas for these businesses being honored were literally started on the back of the napkin. Those ideas evolved into a great group of success stories that are represented in the Cowboy100 and the Blazing10. We at Twin Eagle feel honored to be a part of this group.”
