OSU Board Approves Personnel Actions

The Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents approved several personnel actions during its Sept. 16 meeting at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami.

Dr. Ronald E. Bussert of Ada, vice president for fiscal affairs at East Central University since 2003, was named vice president for administration and finance at OSU-Tulsa.

He also has served as executive director of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce from 1999-2003, as a division manager with the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs for two years, and from 1986-97, held several positions at Bank of American in Oklahoma City, including serving four years as assistant general counsel and vice president.

Bussert received his B.S. in accounting and his M.B.A. from OSU, and his juris doctorate, magna cum laude, from Oklahoma City University.

Dr. Paula Willyard of Moore was named vice president for student services at OSU-Oklahoma City. Since 2003 she has served as state director of academic affairs and adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix in Oklahoma City, and from 1987-2003 worked as an adviser, an adjunct psychology faculty member, and coordinator of Student Support Services for Tulsa Community College.

She received her B.S. degree in secondary social studies education from OSU, her master’s of education degree from Northeastern State University, and her Ed.D. in adult education from OSU.

Dr. Jonathan V. Edelson, professor and interim head of the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology on the Stillwater campus since October 2004, was named head of the department.

Edelson was named associate professor and director of the OSU Center West Watkins Agricultural Research and Extension Center in 1989, and in 1996 was named a professor of entomology and plant pathology. Prior to coming to OSU, he was an assistant and associate professor of entomology at Texas A&M from 1982-89.

He received his B.S. in fisheries from the University of Missouri, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in entomology from Auburn University. He served this past year as president of the Society of Southwestern Entomologists.

APPOINTMENTS: Christopher J. Richards, assistant professor and extension and research specialist, animal science; Eric Stafne, assistant professor, horticulture and landscape architecture; Raymond T. Murray, assistant professor, journalism and broadcasting; Mahdi Asgari and Joseph Maher, assistant professors, mathematics; Fiera Rizatdinova, assistant professor, physics; Tamara L. Mix, assistant professor, sociology; Kyu-Ho Ahn, assistant professor, design, housing and merchandising; Gregory Dunn and David Njite, assistant professors, hotel and restaurant administration; Edralin A. Lucas and Stephany P. Parker, assistant professors, nutritional sciences; Melanie J. Boileau and Johanna C. Heseltine, assistant professors, veterinary clinical sciences.

TITLE CHANGES:Peter M. Sherwood, from dean and professor of chemistry, to dean and professor of physics, College of Arts and Sciences; James H. Shaw, from professor and head, to professor, zoology; Katherine L. Bost, from assistant professor to assistant professor and department head, library; Johnny L. Johnson, from associate professor to associate professor and department head, library; Harry W. Birdwell, from athletic director to special assistant to the vice president, administration and finance.

RETIREMENT: Margaret S. Ewing, zoology, Jan. 2, 2006.

For OSU-Oklahoma City, appointments were approved for Uhl Adams, instructor, fire protection; Angela Holmberg, instructor, horticulture; Wayne L. Brown, instructor, mathematics; Jack Hill, director, nurse science department; Angela Ramey, instructor, nurse science department; and Nancy A. Lowrance, instructor, public safety.

For the OSU Center for Health Sciences, a change in title was approved for Richard T. Glass from professor, department chair and director, to professor, associated health sciences.
