Orange Peel sponsors St. Jude events

Orange Peel will host “Chow Down and Shop for St. Jude” on Sept. 13 in Stillwater to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Chow Down incorporates restaurants and businesses around the Stillwater community. On the night of the event, from 4 p.m. to closing time, participating restaurants will donate 10% of their profits to St. Jude.
Shop for St. Jude is a way for Stillwater shops to participate with Orange Peel and St. Jude. Downtown Stillwater shops will participate from 4-8 p.m. on the designated day.
This is Orange Peel’s fourth year to select a philanthropy inspiring to give back to Stillwater and the surrounding communities. Orange Peel decided on St. Jude because its impact is not only national but also local.
“It is the local impact that really helps motivate Stillwater businesses to help. These businesses know their participation will help their own community in return,” said Emilee Lehenbauer, philanthropy director.
St. Jude currently touches the lives of more than 4,700 patients, having treated children from all 50 states and more than 70 foreign countries.
Since opening in 1962, the research conducted at St. Jude has improved the survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20% to more than 70% overall.
Donations will also be collected at Orange Peel, which will be held at Boone Pickens Stadium on Sept. 30. Tickets are currently on sale and can be bought online, by phone, or at IBC Bank locations statewide.
