STILLWATER, Okla. -- Dr. T. Mark Neer, a native of Tulsa, has been named the director of the Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences. Neer, who also will serve as a professor of small animal medicine, has spent the last 23 years as a professor of medicine and clinical neurology at Louisiana State University.

Neer’s appointment is a return to his alma mater. He obtained a doctor of veterinary medicine degree at OSU in 1976.

“Dr. Neer comes to us with a strong background in internal medicine and neurology and a true love for OSU,” said Dr. Michael Lorenz, dean of the veterinary center. “Mark has good experience in hospital administration, having served as small animal medicine section head at LSU.”

In 1977, Neer completed an internship in small animal medicine at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, Mass. He finished a medicine residency program at Kansas State University in 1979 before returning to OSU and serving as a member of the veterinary medicine faculty for three years. Neer then worked in private practice in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., before joining the LSU faculty.

Neer is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.  His research interests include tick borne diseases and seizure management.

Neer and his wife, Kitty, now reside in Stillwater. Their daughter, Kelli Michelle, is attending LSU as an art major.

The Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital is located on the campus of OSU’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences in Stillwater. A complete medical care facility accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, the hospital provides primary and specialized medical care for all small and large animals, domesticated and food animals, equine and exotics.

Hospital services are available to animal owners and referring veterinarians statewide and include 24-hour critical care, an in-house pharmacy and a clinical pathology laboratory. To make an appointment, call 405-744-7000.
