State Chancellor for Higher Education Glen Johnson spoke to an entrepreneurial business class from the Spears School of Business on Thursday at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
Johnson discussed the structure of the Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education, leadership, and entrepreneurship. He stressed the importance of perseverance and fielded direct questions from the students, which was a routine practice for the class.
“It was an honor for us to have Chancellor Johnson speak in our MGMT 3023 Entrepreneurship
Fundamentals Class in the Spears School of Business,” said Dr. Joretta Nord, management
science and information systems professor. “This class has provided a great opportunity
for our students to be informed and inspired by listening to and interacting with
                              successful leaders and entrepreneurs.”

The Entrepreneurship Fundamentals class in the Spears School of Business is designed
as a “speaker series.” Guests include successful entrepreneurs, government officials,
venture capitalists, university officials, and others. The presentations are on various
topics, including the entrepreneurship process, economic development, technology transfer,
                              and resources available to entrepreneurs.

Students are required to research each speaker before their presentation, take exams
on the content of the speaker’s presentation, conduct an extensive interview with
an entrepreneur, and attend receptions and dinners held in the speaker’s honor. The
class is popular, with 175 students enrolled this semester.
