Mercer Human Resources LLC., a global leader in health care matters, has been chosen as a consultant for the Oklahoma State University Task Force on Health Care and Wellness.
The hiring of Mercer was approved in action Friday by the Board of Regents for Oklahoma A&M Colleges.
The task force — composed of representatives from all five branch campuses of the OSU System and led by Dr. John Fernandes, president of the OSU Health Sciences Center — was established in October 2006 to address OSU's rising health care costs.
Mercer will help the task force analyze information and prepare a list of recommendations, as well as assist in issuing a request for proposal for health care coverage.
Since 2000, health care costs for OSU employees have nearly doubled, and the current task force is working to conduct a study of all alternatives to address both the immediate need for health care costs and the long-term aspects of wellness programs for OSU employees and students.
