Cowboy Basketball visit St. Francis Children's Oncology with Coaches vs. Cancer
Wednesday, June 27, 2007
Cowboy Basketball players and coaches made a special visit to St. Francis Children's
Hospital Oncology outpatient clinic and intensive care unit in Tulsa, Okla., on June
20, 2007. Coaches Sean Sutton and Kyle Keller along with current and former players
Obi Muonelo, Terrell Harris, Byron Eaton, Kenny Cooper, Marcus Dove, Andre Williams
and Daniel Bobik visited with the kids for over three hours. The OSU Coaches vs Cancer
committee and cancer survivor LeAnne Taylor from KOTV also participated. T-shirts,
signed pictures and osu fan merchandise provided by Eskimo Joes and Cool Chicks Wear
Orange were given to patients and their family members.
The visit was coordinated in conjunction with the OSU Coaches vs Cancer (CvC) Campaign,
which is an American Cancer Society fundraising event. Currently, the OSU CvC campaign
ranks first in the Big 12, first in the High Plains division and third nationally
in dollars raised. Eskimo Joes has been a large part of the campaign’s continued
success, donating over $80,000 to date. Both the OSU CvC campaign and former coach
Eddie Sutton have been nationally recognized with awards from the American Cancer
Society in the last year. Just in the past four years, OSU’s Coaches vs Cancer campaign
has raised over $500,000 for the fight against cancer.
The CvC committee and Cowboy Basketball is currently arranging a similar visit in
Oklahoma City, Okla., where former Coach and CvC advocate Eddie Sutton hopes to participate,
as well.
