STILLWATER, Ok. (July 23, 2007) -- Oklahoma State University released the following
statement today after District Judge Donald Worthington ruled during a non-jury trial
that OSU has the right of eminent domain to purchase the final property in the first
phase of its athletic expansion north of Boone Pickens Stadium:
“We are very pleased the Judge ruled today in our favor on every issue. Today’s ruling
validates we did indeed negotiate in good faith with this property owner. In addition,
the Judge also ruled that the property will be used for a valid public purpose. We
look forward to a jury determining a final price for the property and bringing this
matter to a close. We are also pleased with the fact we were able to purchase 99 percent
of the properties for the OSU Athletic Village Complex through voluntary negotiations
with property owners. We commend the OSU Foundation for the thoughtful leadership
it provided throughout this process.”
