OSU-OKC adds Digital Media Studio
Monday, February 19, 2007
Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City has constructed a Digital Media Studio to enhance technology services supporting academic instruction, particularly courses available through distance learning.
With the Digital Media Studio, barriers of time and distance are eliminated, permitting
faculty, staff and students worldwide to collaborate as if they were in the same room.
Faculty can create a true “campus without walls,” interactively disseminating knowledge
anywhere via the Internet, DVD, or videotape.
OSU-OKC’s Academic Technology Department operates the studio. Academic Technology
provides faculty and staff with professional multimedia development services, consultations,
workshops, training, access to multimedia equipment and support to further the university’s
commitment to educational excellence.
“The studio better serves our staff and faculty needs allowing ever more courses to
go online and create DVDs for access to the classroom anywhere,” said Kemit Grafton,
director of Academic Technology.
The Digital Media Studio extends the reach of the campus with its fully equipped cameras,
lights, control panels, three video editing workstations, teleprompter, auto-mix,
audio system and graphic capabilities. It’s both static and mobile, with the production
unit providing a variety of services including video and audio materials for learning
support, materials for use with televised courses and public and community relations
programming.
“Due to this exciting new development, OSU-OKC heightens its voice within the local
and statewide community,” said Dr. Jerry Carroll, OSU-OKC president. “We are pleased
to bring such an innovative tool to enhance our students’ educational experience.”
OSU-OKC is located at 900 N. Portland Avenue. For more information, contact Kemit
