Conversation with T. Boone Pickens highlights Oklahoma State University Library fundraiser
Monday, August 4, 2008
(STILLWATER, Okla., August 4, 2008) -- It is never too late to top your personal best.
That’s the core message in T. Boone Pickens’ new book, “The First Billion Is the Hardest:
Reflections on a Life of Comebacks and America’s Energy Future.”
Pickens’ development and advocacy of a new U.S. energy plan has generated an avalanche
of political and media attention in recent weeks. The Pickens Plan, spelled out in
“The First Billion is the Hardest,” is a blueprint to reduce the nation’s foreign
oil dependence by harnessing domestic energy alternatives.
Pickens will discuss his new book, the Pickens Plan and more with guests at the H.
Louise and H.E. “Ed” Cobb Speaker Series in Stillwater on September 5.
The event, held at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center, will begin at 6:15 p.m. with
a book signing reception. Dinner follows. The after-dinner program will be “A Conversation
with T. Boone Pickens” led by OSU President Burns Hargis.
Pickens is the 18th speaker in the series, which is presented annually by the Friends
of the OSU Library. All proceeds directly benefit OSU Libraries.
Tickets are for $100; seating is limited. Half of the ticket price is tax-deductable.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available. To purchase tickets, call (405) 744-7901
