First Lady of OSU to host performance this Sunday

(Oct. 1 , 2008, STILLWATER, Okla.) – Ann Hargis will host the Annual First Lady of
Oklahoma State University Distinguished Music Professor Concert at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday,
Oct. 5 at the Seretean Center Concert Hall.
Associate professor Babette Belter is the recipient of the Distinguished Music Professor Award that is presented to a member of the music faculty.
Belter, who joined the music department in 1988, is the concert’s featured performer. She is the principal clarinetist with the Tulsa Ballet orchestra and the Tulsa Signature Symphony. She has performed as a featured soloist in Italy, Israel, England and Canada, as well as the United States. In 2004, she received the Wise-Diggs-Berry Award for excellence in teaching at OSU.
Other performers include OSU music professors, soprano Anne-Marie Condacse, pianist Zarina Melik-Stepanova, cellist Meredith Blecha and bassist George Speed.
An arrangement of George Gershwin’s “Preludes for Piano” will feature choreography that will be performed by Michaela Harrington, Belter’s daughter who studies dance at the Tulsa Ballet Center for Dance Education and Encore Dance Company in Stillwater.
