Regents approve additional admission options for OSU
The OSU/A&M Board of Regents approved a new admissions application review process today.  If approved by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the new process would allow students who meet the state regents’ requirements for admission to be considered through additional criteria by Oklahoma State University.  “While we have no intention of lowering our admission standards, we don’t want to discourage students with potential for academic success from entering our application process,” said OSU Interim President Marlene Strathe. Broadening the admission process, based on a combination of students’ school testing performance as well as leadership, experiences, and interests, is expected to allow the university to provide a more balanced review of the incoming freshman class and remain true to OSU’s land-grant mission. The Board approved a Student Union renovations fee of $4.35 per credit hour, which will be charged to all incoming undergraduate students starting in the fall 2008.  The renovation has drawn strong support from students and the fee was approved by the Student Government Association. “The OSU Student Union has served the OSU community, Stillwater and the state of Oklahoma for over 50 years,” said OSU Interim System CEO and President Marlene Strathe. “In order for the Union to continue its high quality of service and programs it is necessary to make an investment in some much-needed facility improvements and infrastructure upgrades.”  The last substantial renovation was in 1978. This new comprehensive renovation could begin as early as 2010 and take up to 3-to-4 years. For more, click on the following link index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=867&Itemid=90
