Newest cowboys are at OSU's Camp Cowboy
Thursday, July 10, 2008
(July 10, 2008 Stillwater, OK) - Oklahoma State University will celebrate the 10th
anniversary of Camp Cowboy by hosting past directors of the camp from throughout the
country.
In fact, more than two dozen of the 42 past directors have already sent in their reservations
to attend the event on July 26, according to Tony Borelli, 2008 Camp Cowboy programming
director.
Each year Camp Cowboy, held at Camp Redlands just west of Stillwater, offers first-year
students a fun-filled freshman orientation experience that includes small group activities,
a ropes course, campfire activities and much more.
The three-day weekend is designed to prepare students to experience the best of what
OSU has to offer, including an opportunity to get to know other incoming freshmen,
"experienced" OSU students, and faculty and staff, all of which will lead to an
easier transition into college life.
One of the highlights of each weekend is the high energy spirit session with OSU coaches,
athletes, pom pom squad members, cheerleaders and Pistol Pete, complete with music,
video and an opportunity to learn the alma mater and various spirit songs.
Three camps already filled up, and only limited spaces are now available in the last
two weekend camps this year, set for July 18-20 and July 25-27.
A limited number of fee waivers, provided by the Office of the President, are available
for students who qualify for the remaining camps, according to Kent Sampson, OSU director
of Campus Life.
