OSU Board Approves Personnel Actions

(MIAMI, Okla., Dec. 5, 2008) -- The Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents approved several personnel actions during its Dec. 5 meeting at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami.

APPOINTMENTS: Michael H. Morris, professor, Malone Mitchell Chair and head of the Department of Entrepreneurship in the William S. Spears School of Business, appointment grants tenure; Nola N. Miyasaki, director, executive-in-residence and Stevenson Chair for entrepreneurship in the William S. Spears School of Business; Carisa L.H. Ramming, assistant professor, architecture; Joe A. Cecil, associate professor, appointment grants tenure, industrial engineering.

CHANGES: Sallie M. McCorkle, change from professor and head to professor, art, and assumes duties as director, Doel Reed Center for the Arts through Dec. 31, 2012; R. Russell Rhinehart, title change from professor, head and Edward E. Bartlett Chair, chemical engineering, to professor and Amoco Chair, chemical engineering; James E. Smay, title change from associate professor to associate professor and R.N. Maddox Professor, chemical engineering; Michael S. Davis, professor, physiological sciences, appointed to Oxley Equine Sports Medicine Professorship; Kenneth E. Bartels, professor and McCasland Professor, veterinary clinical sciences, also appointed to Kerr Foundation Chair.

SABBATICALS: Sandra Goetze, teaching and curriculum leadership, 100 percent sabbatical at the University of California, Los Angeles, to enhance expertise in sociocultural, literacy and English language learning theories and in methods of teaching English Language learners (E.L.L.), July 1-Dec. 15, 2009; Hongyu Wang, teaching and curriculum leadership, 100 percent sabbatical to do research on Chinese educators engaging in Western thought, to lecture at Chinese universities on curriculum studies, and to collaborate to develop possible cohort groups, Aug. 1-Dec. 31, 2009; Virginia A. Worley, 100 percent sabbatical to research and draft a book on the place of education based upon longstanding lines of inquiry on the nature of place, Aug. 1-Dec. 31, 2009.

RETIREMENTS: Michael Parle, political science, Jan. 12, 2009; Patricia B. Self, human development and family science, Jan. 5, 2009.

For OSU-Oklahoma City, Evelyn K. Bollenbach, administrative director, public relations, promoted to senior director of marketing/communications.

For the OSU Center for Health Sciences, retirement was accepted for Joann G. Ryan, osteopathic manipulative medicine, Jan. 31, 2009.
