OSU Board Approves Personnel Actions

(TULSA, Ok., July 25, 2008) -- Several personnel actions were approved during the
Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents meeting today on the OSU-Tulsa campus.
APPOINTMENTS: Jody L. Campichi and David W. Shideler, assistant professors, agricultural
economics; Justin Q. Moss, assistant professor, horticulture and landscape architecture;
Justen M. Renyer, assistant professor, art; Dennis R. Preston, professor, English,
action grants tenure; Jeffrey M. Byrnes, assistant professor, geology; Gina J. Noble,
clinical assistant professor, journalism and broadcasting; Robert M. Alderson and
Jared P. Dempsey, assistant professors, psychology; Alexander G. Ophir, assistant
professor, zoology; Conrad L. Woolsey, assistant professor, applied health and educational
psychology; Denise F. Blum and Shabana Mir, assistant professors, educational studies;
Robin L. Fuxa, clinical instructor, teaching and curriculum leadership; Anthony R.
Dark, director, Oklahoma Transportation Center; Hyun-Joo Lee and Adriana G. Petrova,
assistant professors, design, housing and merchandising; David W. Davis, clinical
instructor, hotel and restaurant administration; Tamara B. Gull, assistant professor,

CHANGES: Raymond L. Huhnke, professor, biosystems and agricultural engineering, adds
title of director, Biobased Products and Energy Center; Alan Adolphson, Regents Professor,
mathematics, appointment as Vaughn Professor; Jiahong Wu, professor, mathematics,
appointment as AT&T Professor; Alexander Khanov, change in title from assistant research
professor to assistant professor, physics; Ronald S. Harrist, associate professor,
applied health and educational psychology, appointment to endowed chair, the Hyle
Family Professor; Steven W. Edwards, title change from professor and interim associate
dean, to professor and associate dean for research and graduate studies, College of
Education; Timm J. Bliss, associate professor, educational studies, appointed to an
endowed chair at OSU-Tulsa, the Hardesty Chair; Paulette R. Hebert, professor, design,
housing and merchandising, stepping down as department head and appointed to Salmon
Professorship; Richard Ghiseli, professor and director, hotel and restaurant administration,
appointment as Thoma Chair; Radesh R. Palakurthi, professor, hotel and restaurant
administration, appointment as Lanphere Endowed Professor; Lin Liu, professor, physiological
sciences, appointed to endowed chair, the Lundberg-Keinlen Endowed Chair; Nicole M.
Ponzio, change in title from visiting assistant professor to clinical assistant professor,
veterinary clinical sciences.
SABBATICAL: Daryl Nord, management science and information systems, a 100 percent
sabbatical at the University of Primorska in Slovenia to work with faculty and administrators
on IT research, seminars and faculty development programs, and his Fulbright visit
is in collaboration with Slovenia State Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education,
from Jan. 1-June 30, 2009; Jeretta H. Nord, management science and information systems,
management science and information systems, 100 percent sabbatical at the University
of Primorska, Slovenia, to fulfill a Fulbright Specialists Award Grant to study the
impact of different cultures, social systems, etc., on entrepreneurship behaviors,
especially in regard to high technology innovations, from Jan. 1-June 30, 2009; Marlys
Manson, marketing, 100 percent sabbatical to advance her expertise in the area of
consumer health with colleagues at the University of Utah as well as in Minnesota
for data collection, from Jan. 17-June 30, 2009.
RETIREMENTS: Arthur L. Pentz Jr., communication sciences and disorders, Aug. 1; Timothy
M. Wilson, physics, Sept. 2; Adrienne E. Hyle, education outreach, June 30; Garold
D. Oberlender, civil and environmental engineering, Jan. 1, 2009.
At the OSU Center for Health Sciences, appointments were approved for Dennis J. Carter,
clinical assistant professor and endowed professorship, family medicine; Gavin V.
Gardner, clinical assistant professor, family medicine; and for Jennifer D. Sunday,
clinical assistant professor, pediatrics. A change in title was approved for Jeffrey
S. Stroup, from clinical assistant professor to associate professor, PP-IM.
For the OSU-Institute of Technology, an appointment was approved for Linda K. Roe,
director, business affairs. A change in title was approved for Michael S. Fry, from
manager to director, economic development and training center.
For OSU-Oklahoma City, appointments were approved for Dawn Hemphill, instructor, nurse
science, and for Kent Studnicka, instructor, public safety.
Title changes were approved for Ottilie Baumgardner, from associate professor to associate
professor and associate division head, nurse science department; P. Eileen Stephens,
from associate professor and associate division head, to associate professor, nurse
science department; and Laura Hare, from director to director and project manager,
personnel services. The board accepted the retirement of Irving C. Tang, mathematics,
effective July 1.
