OSU calling for entries in student film contest

Friday, April 18, 2008

(STILLWATER, OK – April XX, 2008) Oklahoma State University’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions is calling for entries in the inaugural short film contest. The contest, designed to allow students to promote the university, is open to all current OSU students.

The contest was organized by students from a variety of majors who created posters, handbills and a film website to create awareness for the contest. Caitlin Thompson an English/Film major is one of the organizers of the contest.

"I am a firm believer that students should give back to the very place that has helped to educate them. This contest gives students a fun and creative way to do exactly that. What better way to give back than to help inspire future students," Thompson said.

“The contest will be an excellent way to allow students to showcase the skills acquired at OSU and create a connection with prospective students,” said staff advisor Chelsey Armstrong.
Students that would like to participate must complete a short film highlighting “The OSU Experience”.  The short needs to exhibit exciting opportunities available to OSU students. The shorts are due on May 2, 2008.

These shorts will then be voted on by current and prospective students via the contest website.

The winning film will be shown at a home football game on the Jumbo-Tron. The winner will receive two tickets to the game and a $500 cash prize.
