OSU to host Oklahoma Conference of Art Historians

(February 27, 2008 STILLWATER, Okla.) – Oklahoma State University will host the annual
Oklahoma Conference of Art Historians on March 1 in the Bartlett Center for the Visual
Arts.
The organization, now in its 20th year, has more than 100 members. About 60 are expected
to attend the event in Stillwater, which is hosted on a rotating basis each year by
Oklahoma colleges, universities and museums.
“Art faculty, as well as undergraduate and graduate students from throughout the state,
will present research that has undergone a competitive proposal and acceptance process,”
says Jennifer Borland, assistant professor of art and a member of the conference’s
organization committee.
Four sessions are planned with the first starting at 9:30 a.m. Topics include portraits
of women of the 15th century, power and patronage in colonial Santa Fe, N.M., commentary
on nationalism and social order, medieval gynecological manuscripts and The Last Supper.
Arthur Feldman, of the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art, will discuss preparing
an ethnically-oriented exhibit for an American audience.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, in the Gardiner Art Gallery in
