Temporary Utility Services Provider and University to Offer Accelerated Associate Degree

(July 23, 2008  Okmulgee, OK.) – Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology recently entered a partnership with Aggreko, the world’s leading supplier of temporary power, temperature control and oil-free compressed air systems. They have developed SelecTech, a technician training program through OSU’s Diesel and Heavy Equipment department.

“By combining the resources of Aggreko with our experience in working directly with industry, we have developed a true educational partnership,” said program chair Roy Achemire. “There’s probably not another selection of programs in the world that offers the kind of relationship with industry leaders that we do.”

The company will be responsible for recruiting and placing students in the OSU Institute of Technology program. Students will go through a two-year, six-semester program spending half of the time on the campus in Okmulgee and the other half on paid internships at Aggreko service centers.

“With the internships set up the way they are, where the students spend half of a semester here and a half semester at the service center, they have the opportunity to apply their training to real world experiences,” said Achemire.

Through the partnership, Aggreko will provide OSU Institute of Technology with training materials, including: audiovisuals, student booklets, instructor guides, service information, simulators and training software. The company will also assist in providing the necessary equipment for the program.

Last year, Aggreko was named the temporary power and temperature control supplier of the upcoming Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and was recently named the supplier of The Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.

“Being the global leader in any industry requires having the best-trained personnel, and Aggreko is no different,” said Achemire. “When representatives visited our campus, they liked the way we structured our programs and decided it would be the best way for them to recruit and train new technicians.”

In order to enroll in the program, students must be sponsored by Aggreko, be 18 or older by the time of the first internship, be a high school graduate or equivalent, meet the OSU Institute of Technology admissions requirements, possess a valid driver’s license and meet the employment requirements of Aggreko.

“The Aggreko SelecTech Program at OSU will produce graduates with the highest technical competency in the market,” said Terry Dressel, Aggreko’s Vice President, National Operations.  “The program will provide students with the most up-to-date training to diagnose, service and maintain equipment and will enable graduates to more easily advance in position after additional experience.”

The first class of Aggreko students will begin on September 9, 2008.
