OSU participates in National Dump the Pump Day
Wednesday, June 18, 2008
(June 18, 2008 Stillwater, Okla.) - Oklahoma State University is inviting the campus
and the community to participate in the Third Annual National Dump the Pump Day on
Thursday, June 19.
The day is dedicated to raising awareness that riding public transportation helps
improve the environment and conserves fuel. It also offers the opportunity for people
to beat the high price of gasoline and support public transportation as an important
travel option that helps reduce our dependence on foreign oil as well as reducing
the amount of harmful greenhouse gases that are emitted into our environment.
Stillwater residents can take part in this national event by riding the community
transit system, THE BUS, on Thursday. Fares are $0.50 for residents, $0.25 for adults
65+ and free for University students, faculty and staff with an OSU ID card. For
more information and to find bus routes and schedules visit THE BUS website at www.transit.okstate.edu.
On June 19, public transportation agencies from coast to coast will join together
to ask you to park your cars and ride public transportation instead.
So get on board and Dump the Pump.
