President's Leadership Council celebrates 43rd anniversary
Thursday, September 25, 2008
More than 80 alumni of the Oklahoma State University President’s Leadership Council
program, including OSU President Burns Hargis, will be in Stillwater Saturday to mark
the council’s 43rd anniversary.
Some 100 current and recent PLC students who are still in school also are expected
to attend the 3 p.m. reception at the Starlight Terrace on the fourth floor of the
Student Union.
Hargis, who was in the first class of PLC students when it was formed at OSU by former
President Robert B. Kamm in 1966, is expected to drop by and greet the guests. When
he was a student at OSU the council was selected from all campus leaders. Today, the
council is composed of freshman students.
Emcee for the program will be Sara Sheffield, a 2000-01 PLC alumna who is now a reporter
and anchor for KYTV in Springfield, Mo.
“Over the years, the PLC program has affected more than 4,000 individuals and we are
anxious to reconnect with each one of them,” said Stephen Haseley, director of the
OSU Office of Leadership Development.
Returning alumni also will learn about the plans to establish a new Center for Ethics
and Creative Leadership at OSU from Dr. Steve Harrist, associate professor of applied
health and educational psychology and Hyle Family Professor; hear plans for the major
renovation of the Student Union from director Mitch Kilcrease; and learn about the
PLC Scholarship Endowment Program from Haseley.
