President's Message - May 28, 2008

To the OSU Campus,
Thanks to the hard work and participation of many, Oklahoma State University is off
to a solid start on our journey to reduce energy consumption by millions of dollars
over the next several years.
Energy managers covering all OSU campuses have worked diligently to put in place an
energy conservation program that successfully saved nearly $1.4 million in energy
costs for the OSU System, including more than $1 million on the Stillwater campus,
from October last year through February.
Our results thus far are impressive and summer presents great opportunities for maximizing
our savings. From scrutinizing reduced schedules and activities, to ensuring vacant
residential suites and apartments are set to save energy, energy managers are working
to take advantage of every opportunity to decrease energy consumption.
We can each make a real impact by actively supporting the summer adjustments that
are occurring across the campus. Small, simple steps really can make a difference.
Please make it part of your routine to turn off lights, computers, monitors, speakers,
fans and other electrical devices when leaving for the day.
With your continued support, we have the opportunity to exceed our energy savings
goals and help our environment at the same time. Thank you for helping OSU go green.
