(OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – June 20, 2008) – A major renovation and construction at the Oklahoma State University Student Union took a major step forward today with approval by the OSU/A&M Board of Regents of an architect and construction manager for the major project.
Today regents selected PSA-Dewberry, Tulsa, OK and Flintco, Inc., Tulsa, OK to serve as the construction manager at risk to assist the university with the $86 million project.
Earlier this year the regents approved a $4.35 per credit hour fee which will be assessed to all incoming undergraduate students beginning this fall to help fund the renovations.
“The planning of this renovation, including how to fund it, received input from a 14-member committee that included students, faculty, staff and administrators,” said Mitch Kilcrease, Student Union Director. “This renovation is essential to providing students, employees and visitors better services and facilities to enhance their time and their experience on the OSU campus.”
The OSU Student Union opened in 1950 and is considered one of the largest university
unions in the United States. It has gone through small updates over the last 30 years,
but the last substantial renovation was in 1978. The renovation could begin as early
as 2010 and is expected to take up to four years to complete.
