(June 27, 2008  TULSA) – Tulsa-based Flintco, Inc. recently received a national construction award for its work on Oklahoma State University-Tulsa’s Helmerich Advanced Technology Research Center.

Flintco received the prestigious National Excellence in Construction Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors, one of the leading organizations representing America’s business community and the U.S. construction industry.

“This award recognizes the great talents and high quality work of the entire Flintco team working on the Helmerich ATRC,” said OSU-Tulsa President Gary Trennepohl. “It’s also a testimony to their exceptional efforts to construct an impressive, high-tech research center while keeping the project on time and on budget.”

As a recipient of this year’s award, Flintco ranks among the nation’s leading companies whose work is judged as the best in the construction industry maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and project management.

Only forty-two companies nationwide received awards in the competition’s Pyramid level, with Flintco winning for OSU-Tulsa’s Helmerich ATRC in the Institutional $25 - $99 million category. Flintco was presented with the award at a ceremony June 18 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

Construction of the Helmerich ATRC was completed in November 2007. Flintco served as the construction manager and PSA Dewberry was the architect for the facility. Funding for the Helmerich ATRC was made possible through Tulsa County’s Vision 2025 initiative, the State’s 2005 higher education bond issue and Walter and Peggy Helmerich of Tulsa.

Last week, Flintco was chosen as the construction manager for the renovation of OSU’s Student Union in Stillwater. The $86 million project could begin as early as 2010 and is expected to take up to four years to complete.

The Flintco Companies, which was founded in 1908, is the largest American Indian-owned construction company and is one of the largest commercial contractors in the nation.
