Two OSU students first undergrads to win contest

(November 25, 2008 Stillwater, OK) - J.D. McElhaney and Karl Garbrecht, biosystems and ag engineering students from Oklahoma State University, became the first undergraduates to be named winners at the annual Oklahoma Water Research Symposium Poster Contest held recently in Midwest City. McElhaney won first place and $500 with his poster titled “Nitrogen Removal via Phytoremediation.” Garbrecht tied for 2nd and won $300 with his poster titled “Pathogen Transport through Soils.” This was the 4th annual contest pitting OSU and OU students and the first to be won by undergraduates.
