TULSA (June 9, 2009) – Oklahoma State University-Tulsa President Gary Trennepohl has been named “Man of the Year” by the Tulsa chapter of the American Red Cross.

Trennepohl was recently honored at the organization’s first Red Cross Red Carpet Gala at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Formerly called the Everyday Heroes celebration luncheon, the event was changed to an evening fundraiser.

“I am honored to be considered an everyday hero for my work on behalf of a university and a city that I love,” Trennepohl said. “I offer my congratulations to the other honorees and many thanks to the American Red Cross for all of their work and support of our community and state.”

Nellie Kelly, director of public relations for the Tulsa chapter of the American Red Cross, said the event was attended by 375 individuals who came to support their heroes and the local disaster relief work of the American Red Cross.
