(Stillwater, OK  May 5, 2009) - Students in a 3-dimensional foundation course have placed their final projects on display at the Willham House.  Last month the students created small chairs that were put on display inside the President’s home.  These small chairs were exact models of existing, wooden chairs which are now on display on the front lawn of the house.

To create the larger chairs students were given a standard piece of lumber (2”x 4” x 10”) and had to make a functional chair that referenced the smaller model.

“Because of the limited material, a complete chair was impossible to create and students were forced to become creative in order for the chairs to be structurally sound,” said Sallie McCorkel course professor.

This project is one of many in the class which give students the opportunity through a variety of materials and processes the chance to explore the basic principles of our 3-dimensional world.

The chairs will be on display through Monday, May 11. Willham House is located at 1600 N. Washington Street.
