United States Department of Energy and EPA Honor Firm for Efforts in Energy Savings

(April 15, 2009 DALLAS, TX) – Energy Education, the nation’s leader and pioneer of people-driven energy conservation and efficiency programs, has been presented with the distinguished ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award for 2009 by the United States Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency. The ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award recognizes organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency. Energy Education received the award at a banquet on March 31, 2009 in Washington, D.C.

As a result of energy conservation programs with Energy Education, 84 percent of the 2008 public education building ENERGY STAR Label plaques distributed last year went to Energy Education clients. In the past 23 years, the Dallas, Texas-based Energy Education has worked with nearly 1,000 educational and ministerial organizations, helping clients save over $1.7 billion in utility costs.

“The EPA is pleased to recognize Energy Education for leadership in addressing global warming through greater energy efficiency,” said Kathleen Hogan, Director of the Climate Protection Partnerships Division at the U.S. EPA. “Because commercial and industrial facilities account for about half of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, Energy Education’s efforts are vital to protecting our global environment.”

“I congratulate Energy Education on receiving this prestigious award for national leadership in energy efficiency and conservation,” said Congressman Pete Sessions (TX-32). “Energy solutions are critical to our nation’s economic and security development, and I applaud Dr. Spears for the innovative energy solutions he has provided in our hometown of Dallas, Texas and across our nation.”

“We are extremely proud and humbled to have received this honor,” said CEO and Founder Dr. William S. Spears. “ENERGY STAR has long been recognized as a valuable resource for businesses and consumers to receive impartial information regarding quantifiable energy conservation results. Our partnership with ENERGY STAR provides us an opportunity to help our clients nationwide receive recognition for their extraordinary work in people-oriented energy conservation.”
