(Stillwater, OK October 19, 2009) -- The 42nd Annual Frontiers of Power Conference
will explore current trends in electrical transmission and distribution reliability
assessment, as well as related energy generation, smart grid, educational and public
policy issues on Oct. 26-27 at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
Keynote speakers for the conference are Peter W. Sauer and John L. Neufeld. Sauer,
a Grainger Professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign in Urbana, Ill., will speak on the “Status and Prospects for Power
Engineering Education.”
Neufeld, a professor in the department of economics at the University of North Carolina
at Greensboro, will address the topic “Toward a More Perfect Grid: Institutions, Public
Policy and the Historical Development of Large-Scale Electrical Supply Networks in
the U.S.”
Individuals associated with electric utilities, electric power production facilities,
power equipment manufacturers, consultants for municipal electric utilities, universities
and government agencies should find this program of special interest, according to
Dr. Rama Ramakumar, director of the OSU Engineering Energy Laboratory.
“It’s also a perfect chance for students and practicing professionals to interact
with each other. Students will learn how to practically apply things they have learned
in their classes,” said Ramakumar.
The conference is co-sponsored by the Engineering Energy Laboratory and The School
of Electrical and Computer Engineering at OSU.
