Governor's Executive Development Program to be held at OSU

(August 3, 2009   Stillwater, OK) Thirty-one executives from Oklahoma governmental agencies will attend The 4th Annual
                     Governor's Executive Development Program August 2 through 6 at Oklahoma State University
                     in Stillwater.
                     
                     	This customized executive education program developed especially for top-level state
                     officials is designed around the five Executive Leadership Competencies identified
                     by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, said Oscar Jackson, administrator of the
                     Oklahoma Office of Personnel Management and the Governor's Cabinet Secretary of Human
                     Resources and Administration. Specifically, the program will improve participants’
                     ability to lead change, lead people, achieve results, and build business acumen, coalitions
                     and communication.
                     
                     	"We are very excited and pleased to be able to provide leaders from state agencies
                     this type of program, which is uniquely designed for top executives in Oklahoma state
                     government," said Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry.    
                     
                     	The program will feature sessions from senior faculty members from Oklahoma State
                     University, University of Oklahoma, and Oklahoma City University.  Instructors and
                     faculty facilitating these sessions include: Richard Little and Trent Gabert from
                     the University of Oklahoma; Robert Dooley, Ken Eastman, Lee Manzer, Debra Nelson,
                     Raj Basu and Mike Morris from Oklahoma State University; and Vince Orza from Oklahoma
                     City University.
                     
                     	In addition, the program will feature executive roundtable discussions addressing
                     some of the hot topics in state government.
                     
                     	"We believe the Governor's Executive Development Program is a valuable asset to our
                     state government leaders,” said Lisa Fortier, director of human resource development
                     services for the Oklahoma Office of Personnel Management. “The involvement of the
                     University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University in offering the curriculum seemed
                     a natural match in delivering a top-quality program which provides an opportunity
                     for these executive officials to exchange ideas and learn new skills in an interactive
                     setting."
                     
                     	The Governor's Executive Development Program is hosted by the Spears School of Business
                     at Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma in cooperation with the
                     State Office of Personnel Management.
