Grogg named interim president at OSU-CHS

(Stillwater, OK May 26, 2009) -- Stanley E. Grogg, D.O., will serve as interim president
of OSU Center for Health Sciences beginning July 2. John Fernandes, D.O., on May 22
announced he would step down as president and dean as of July 1 to pursue other interests.
OSU will conduct a national search for Fernandes' successor.
Grogg is medical director of clinical research, a professor of pediatrics at OSU College
of Osteopathic Medicine and former director of the Osteopathic Medical Education Consortium
of Oklahoma. He has received numerous honors, most recently the 2009 OSU Regents Distinguished
Teaching Award for Clinical Research.
"Dr. Grogg will provide solid leadership and continuity as we search for a new president,"
said OSU President Burns Hargis. "We appreciate Stan's outstanding work and his willingness
to take on this added responsibility. We also appreciate the commitment of our entire
institution during this time of transition. "
Grogg a graduate of Kirksville (Mo.) College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed his
pediatric residency at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital, now OSU Medical Center. He is
active in the International Society of Travel Medicine and Rotary International.
Grogg has had a volunteer faculty appointment since 1974 and became a full-time faculty
member of OSU-CHS in 1999.
