Lahoma Club Awards Scholarships

The Lahoma Club awarded six scholarships at its February meeting in the OSU Student Union on Monday, Feb. 9.  This year’s recipients are:  Marrina Boontheekul (Frankie Boger Scholarship), Morgan Fulton, Sarah Pannell (Susan Willham Memorial Scholarship), Michelle Phillips, Carolyn Siska (Ann Halligan Scholarship), and Terri Thompson.

Boontheekul is majoring in Architecture, Class of 2011.  Her family came from Thailand and now resides in Oklahoma City.  Boontheekul is a member of the Thai Student Association, Freedom by Design, and serves as Career Fair Coordinator for the American Institute of American Students.


Fulton’s home town is currently at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. She is majoring in Dietetics and will graduate in May 2009. While at OSU, Fulton helped establish the OSU Rowing Club taking it from two members to 50.
 
Pannell is an Interior Design major from Broken Arrow, Okla.  She will graduate in May 2010.  She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and currently serves as the Treasurer Elect for the American Society of Interior Designers.
 
Phillips is from Altus, Okla.  She is a member of the Advertising Club and Kappa Alpha Theta.  An Advertising major, Phillips will graduate in May 2009.  
 
Siska is a junior majoring in Advertising with a minor in Marketing.  She is from Chicago, Ill., and is involved in AdClub. She chose to attend OSU for the Advertising Department’s good reputation. Next semester she will study abroad in Rome, Italy.
 
Thompson is a native of Chickasha, Okla.  Her major is Hotel Restaurant Management.  She will graduate in 2010.  Following graduation, Thompson will complete an internship with Chesapeake Energy Dining.  
 
Lahoma Club is open to women who work at or are retired from Oklahoma State University/OSU Foundation or whose spouse works at or is retired from either entity.   The club focuses primarily on fostering good fellowship between university women and students and in promoting the general interest of Oklahoma State University.  Members proudly sponsor several scholarships each year to support OSU students.  In addition to regular monthly meetings, members can participate in special interest groups such as antiquers, computers, genealogy, ladies’ lunch out, Lahoma traveler, and quilting.
 
New members and guests are always welcome to attend Lahoma Club meetings.  The next meeting will feature Martha Ray, Pawnee Bill Museum, as she discusses “Early Hygiene and Dress Foundations” on March 9 at the OSU Wellness Center from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.  For more information, contact Membership at (405) 743-4120 or visit  the Lahoma Club Website .
