(February 17, 2009  Stillwater, OK) - Orders are now being taken at Oklahoma State University for the 2009 Daffodil Days, which supports the American Cancer Society.

Coordinating the OSU fundraising drive this year is Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, which is working with the OSU Service-Learning Volunteer Center.

Orders will be taken until 4 p.m. on Feb. 24. Bunches of cut daffodils are $10, a bunch and a vase are $15, and a bunch and a bear are $25.

People are needed to serve as contacts in the department to collect orders or to represent colleges, according to Joyce Montgomery, coordinator of the Service-Learning Volunteer Center and can sign up by calling 744-5145.

Flowers will be cut by volunteers at the Elks Lodge on March 13 and picked up or delivered to departmental contacts that day.

The money raised supports the American Cancer Society, the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service.

To purchase daffodils, to volunteer as a department contact or to help cut or deliver daffodils, please contact Christa Curry at (918) 520-7464 or Joyce Montgomery at 744-5145.
