OSU Alumni Association to Honor 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State University Alumni Association is pleased to honor the 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients. The six recipients will be recognized at a public reception on Sept. 12 from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. in Southwestern Legacy Hall of the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center in Stillwater and later in the day during halftime of the OSU football game against Houston. The award is presented to alumni for professional achievement and community service.

This year’s honorees are:

Catherine Ebert Jameson of Davis, Okla., attended OSU from 1967-70. She is the founder and CEO of Jameson Management Inc. At OSU, she was a member of the Education Student Council, the Student Union Activities Board and Chi Omega sorority. She serves on the OSU Foundation Board of Governors and the College of Education’s Associates. She was inducted into the College of Education Hall of Fame in 2007 and is a life member of the OSU Alumni Association.

Richard Jennings of Houston, Texas, graduated from OSU with a bachelor’s degree in 1971. He is a Professor of Preventative Medicine and Community Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. While at OSU, he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa and the FarmHouse fraternity, where he served as vice president. He was recognized as a 2008 Distinguished Alumnus for the College of Arts and Sciences.

David Kyle of Tulsa, Okla., graduated from OSU with a bachelor’s degree in 1974. He spent his career working for Oklahoma Natural Gas and its parent company, ONEOK, where he ultimately served as Chairman, President and CEO from 2000-2008. In 2004, he was inducted into the OSU College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology Hall of Fame. He has served on the OSU Foundation Board of Governors and Board of Trustees and is a life member of the OSU Alumni Association.

Joe Martin of Stillwater, Okla., graduated from OSU with a bachelor’s degree in 1975. He is the owner and operator of Stillwater Hospitality, LLC. Martin is a member of the OSU Foundation Board of Governors and the OSU School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration Advisory Board. He was inducted into the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration Hall of Fame in 2009 and is a life member of the OSU Alumni Association.

Rixio E. Medina of Houston, Texas, graduated from OSU with associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in 1976 and 1977, respectively. He is the Vice President of Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Shared Services for CITGO Petroleum Corporation. At OSU, Medina was a member of the International Student Association and Latin American Student Association. Today, he serves on the advisory board for the School of Fire Protection and Safety Technology and is a life member of the OSU Alumni Association.

Dr. Dennis White of Ninnekah, Okla., graduated from OSU with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 1964 and 1969, respectively. He served as the Senior Technical Advisor for Elanco Animal Health before retiring in 2001. While at OSU, White was a member of Block and Bridle, Livestock Judging Team and president of Alpha Zeta. White has served as president of the OSU Animal Science Alumni Association, Trustee of the OSU Foundation and is a member of the OSU Alumni Association.
