OSU Computer Sciences Department Marks 40th Anniversary

(Dec. 11, 2009, Stillwater, Okla.) – This year the Department of Computer Sciences
at Oklahoma State University celebrated its 40th anniversary. The semester-long celebration
included a conference on Theoretical and Applied Computer Science on Oct. 23, an open
house on Nov. 20 and a luncheon on Nov. 21. Subhash Kak, professor and head of computer
sciences, provided opening remarks at the luncheon. The department was formed in 1969
under the administration of the vice president for academic affairs and research.
In 1970, the department moved to the OSU College of Arts & Sciences and now is one
of 24 departments in the College of Arts & Sciences.
