OSU confirms H1N1 case
Monday, May 11, 2009
(Stillwater, OK  May 11, 2009) -- Oklahoma State University received verbal notification
Friday evening (May 8) that an OSU student had tested positive for H1N1 flu.  The
female student did not require hospitalization, has recovered fully and completed
her final exams last week.  The student was not a graduate participating in OSU’s
                     May 8-9 commencement ceremonies.
The student was originally diagnosed by OSU University Health Services and her test
results were sent to the state.  Health officials took appropriate steps to isolate
and treat the patient.  Since testing the student, the university has seen no other
students with similar symptoms, and no other students have met the criteria for additional
                     testing.
The spring semester has ended and the majority of students have left Stillwater, but
OSU will continue to closely monitor the situation.
OSU announced the case to graduates participating in Saturday’s undergraduate ceremonies
and gave graduates the choice to shake hands with administrators during the degree
                     presentations.
