OSU faculty statement on Henry Bellmon

(Stillwater, OK October 2, 2009) - Oklahoma State University faculty issued the following
statement today regarding Henry Bellmon, who served on the OSU faculty and died Tuesday.
"Henry Bellmon is remembered with affection and respect by the OSU faculty. As a fellow
member of the faculty, Henry Bellmon shared a respect for education and used his abilities
to work toward strengthening OSU both regionally and nationally. His affiliation with
the Political Science Department created opportunities for students to learn the workings
of government firsthand. He also developed paid internships for our students in Washington,
D.C. Bellmon also taught in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
He worked with researchers in both Agriculture and the College of Engineering, Architecture
and Technology, helping to bring bio-fuels and geo-thermal research to the Oklahoma
State campus. His work was instrumental in developing the Oklahoma Mesonet, the statewide
weather monitoring system."
