Thursday, March 19, 2009
(STILLWATER, Okla., March 18, 2009) -- Oklahoma State University is pleased to announce
no rate increase on housing fees for the 2009-2010 academic year. It has been nine
years since the last zero percent rate increase at OSU.
“We are very sensitive to our students and their families during these challenging
economic times and we were determined to hold housing costs in place,” said OSU President
Burns Hargis. “We are committed to the success of our students and to the accessibility
of affordable on-campus housing.”
Dr. Matthew Brown, Director of Housing and Residential Life, said, “Students who live
on campus consistently make better grades, complete more credit hours, and are more
involved than students who live off campus. By keeping our rates consistent for two
years, we hope many students will be able to continue living on campus and enjoy these
benefits.”
Housing and Residential Life houses more than 5,000 students in 24 residence halls,
seven family-first neighborhoods, and 20 Living Learning Communities. It employs
more than 50 full-time staff, and more than 175 student-staff positions.
