Oklahoma State University and the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce held a reception
May 13 to honor new Stillwater Mayor Nathan Bates, an OSU student. Chamber President
Jerry Franklin and OSU President Burns Hargis welcomed Bates at the event, which was
held at the ConocoPhillips Alumni Center on the OSU campus. Bates, a health education
junior from Broken Arrow, was sworn into office last month and is the second youngest
mayor in Oklahoma. “We are proud to have one of our students in this important position
and I look forward to working with him to move the city and university forward," said
Hargis.
