Students named to Top Twenty Freshmen at OSU

(Stillwater, OK  September 11, 2009) - Forty Oklahoma State University students have been named Top Twenty Freshman Men and Top Twenty Freshman Women for 2009.

Selection of students, who are now in their sophomore year at OSU, is based upon scholarship, community service, campus involvement and outstanding leadership from their freshman year.

Students will now continue through the interview process from which the Top Ten Freshman Men and Top Ten Freshman Women will be selected. Mortar Board is responsible for choosing students for the Top Ten Freshman Women and the Top Ten Freshman Men.

The Top Ten Freshman Men and Top Ten Freshman Women will be formally recognized, along with their families, during a ceremony on Sept.19 in the Willard Living Room on the OSU campus, and later in the day during a ceremony at the OSU football game.

Top Twenty Freshman Women include Ashlyn Pfeiffer and Kellie Whipple, Alva; Haley Baumgardner, Carrier; Mary Fielding, Cleveland; Kayla Willis, Edmond; Carly Schnaithman, Garber; Brittany Cross, Henryetta; Whitney Burch, Lindsay; Megan McDown, Mustang; Gina Hancock and Kelsey Hanebaum, Oklahoma City; Laurel Wilson, Tulsa; Becky Brandhorst, Weatherford; Amy Lynn Peel, Wetumka; Laura Fritze, Andover, Kan.; Claire Compton, Derby, Kan.; Hannah Geis, Shawnee, Kan.; Rachel Herrmann, Stillwater; Courtney Skaer, Wichita, Kan.; and  Ashley Leonard, Artesia, N.M.
