Beginning Monday, Jan. 26, University Avenue from Knoblock to Monroe will be closed
as part of a $5 million project to improve drainage and beautify the avenue. Phase
I of the project on Hester Street north of University Avenue was completed ahead of
schedule, allowing phase II of the project to begin early. With Monroe closed from
the south, traffic gates will remain open to allow access from the north. The Monroe
Street intersection is scheduled to reopen April 1. The Knoblock intersection should
be open Feb. 23. During construction, pedestrian crosswalks allowing access to the
campus from the south side of University Avenue will be located near Monroe and Knoblock.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed Sept. 18. Click here for construction information
