Alcohol drinking policies/laws to be strictly enforced during remaining games at Boone Pickens Stadium

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

Beginning this week, Oklahoma State University is taking several steps to curb underage drinking and other alcohol-related offenses in and around Boone Pickens Stadium.

OSU Police officers and athletic department officials will be strictly enforcing policies regarding alcohol in the stadium and on campus, as well as state laws regarding underage drinking, furnishing alcohol to minors and public intoxication.  OSU has announced it will take the following actions for the remainder of its home football games:

  • Enforce Athletic Department policy of no alcohol in the open areas of the stadium.  The person possessing the alcohol would be ejected and not allowed to return to the game.  Athletics (through Express Personnel acting as its agents) would determine if the person needed to leave the venue; police officers would assist if needed.
  • For OSU students who are in possession of alcohol (including beer) and intoxicated OSU students in the stadium, representatives from the Office of Student Affairs will be at the game to begin student conduct proceedings.
  • To provide stricter enforcement of state law, more officers will be assigned to areas of highest suspected alcohol-related offenses, such as a minor in possession and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
In addition to the above enforcement policies, OSU will change kick-off time of home football games that are not televised to 2 p.m.  Earlier kick-off times should reduce alcohol consumption and provide a safer and more enjoyable atmosphere for all fans in attendance.
