Bosserman announces retirement as vice president, Oklahoma State University begins national search

David Bosserman, Oklahoma State University vice president of administration and finance,
has announced his plans to retire effective at the end of the current fiscal year
in June 2011.
The OSU/A&M Board of Regents approved the position description at today’s regular
meeting in Stillwater and OSU will begin a national search for Bosserman’s replacement.
“Dr. Bosserman has provided rock-solid leadership over the university’s core operations,”
said OSU President Burns Hargis. “He has guided the university’s finances and various
operations during challenging economic times and we appreciate his dedicated service
to OSU. We wish David and his wife, Jane, all the best.”
Bosserman came to OSU in 1989 and served as associate vice president and controller
until July 2002 when he was named interim vice president for business and finance
and controller. He assumed his current post in April 2003.
Bosserman said "it has been a privilege and honor to serve Oklahoma State University
for the past twenty plus years and I will miss the daily interactions with the students,
staff and faculty. I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve with such great
individuals and groups."
A native of Virginia, Bosserman earned a B.S. degree in general studies from the University
of Nebraska at Omaha, an M.S. degree in computer science from Kansas State University,
and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Idaho.
Prior to coming to OSU, Bosserman served for 21 years in the Field Artillery, U.S.
Army and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Bosserman's military awards
include the Combat Infantryman Badge, Airborne Wings (American and German), Legion
of Merit, Bronze Star w/2 OLC, Air Medal w/4 device, and Purple Heart.
Bosserman also served for approximately nine years as associate controller at the
University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho.
The Vice President for Administration and Finance oversees the university’s accounting,
finance, purchasing, human resource, budget, physical plant, public safety and information
technology operations. The position also provides administrative and financial services
to the other institutions under the governance of the OSU/A&M Board of Regents.
OSU has named a 20-member search committee that will be chaired by Gary Clark, vice
president for university relations, and will include Lou Watkins a member of the OSU/A&M
