Freshman Friday: Stephane Tchang

Friday, December 10, 2010

Oklahoma State University is offering a closer look into the lives of its freshmen students. Each Friday, one freshman will be highlighted on the OSU Facebook page as part of the “Freshman Friday” feature. The freshmen profiles will share students’ first impressions and experiences at OSU and create a unique way for others to get to know first-year students. If this is your first year at OSU and you want to participate in “Freshman Friday,” please contact Amy Wilson at amy.k.wilson10@okstate.edu.

Stephane Tchang

Name: Stephane Tchang
Age: 18
Hometown: Broken Arrow, OK
Major: Marketing and Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship
Classification: Sophomore (first-year student at OSU)

Why did you choose to attend OSU?

I chose to attend OSU not only because it was affordable but also because of its friendly atmosphere.

What has been your favorite experience so far?

My favorite experience so far would have to be the Residential Leadership College event that took place before the academic year began along with the RHA block party.

What do you wish you would have known before coming to college?

Be social and outgoing during your first couple weeks of college. Those people you meet then and there will be the people you'll share your best moments of college with.

What changes do you hope to see during your years at OSU?

I hope to see the tension between Greek life and residential life die down, eventually to the point where they can come together and participate together in various on-going activities and programs on campus.

Where do you see yourself after graduation?

After graduation, I see myself obtaining my MBA while I work and develop a new non-profit organization that will hopefully help shed some light around the world.

What advice would you give to high school seniors who are thinking about coming to OSU?

Get involved! When you arrive, check out all the organizations and programs OSU has to offer. One thing you should never do: sulk in your room. With that, have fun and be prepared to have the time of your life! You'll love it here.
