Grant funding at OSU reaches all-time high
Tuesday, August 24, 2010
Oklahoma State University received a record $136.3 million in grants and contracts
during fiscal year 2010. The Stillwater campus received $106.4 million, while the
branch campuses took in $29.9 million. The system-wide total is up 10 percent from
last year.
“Our record grant funding is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our faculty
and staff,” said OSU President Burns Hargis. “As OSU works to fulfill its land-grant
mission of teaching, research and outreach, these grants provide the resources to
help OSU make important contributions to our state and world.”
Research-only awards exceeded $79 million for FY10 – a dramatic 40 percent increase
over the previous year and the largest single-year increase in OSU’s history. OSU’s
University Multispectral Laboratories in Ponca City also posted record numbers acquiring
more than $14 million in contracts, which is more than triple its 2009 revenue of
$4.4 million and a 40 percent increase over projections.
“These record numbers demonstrate the wonderful efforts of OSU’s faculty and partners
in difficult economic times,” said Steve McKeever, OSU VP for research and technology
transfer. “The award of grants and contracts helps to give our students the first-class
education that they can expect from Oklahoma State University and enables them to
participate in cutting-edge and exciting research and education programs.”
