Wednesday, August 11, 2010
Clint M. Merritt of Ardmore, a 2010 graduate of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater,
was recently presented with the International Balfour Award from the International
Sigma Chi Fraternity.
This award is given annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated the ideals
and values of Sigma Chi throughout his undergraduate career in the areas of scholarship,
character, fraternity service and campus leadership.
“Clint was one of the most outstanding students that Oklahoma State University has
had in a number of years, and he also served as president of the Student Government
Association,” said Ival Gregory, OSU manager of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs. “He
exemplifies the caliber of students who can call OSU their alma mater.”
Merritt received a LifeLoyal Membership from the Boots Adams Foundation, named for
the late K.S. “Boots” Adams of Bartlesville, a former CEO of Phillips Petroleum who
was also a member of Sigma Chi at the University of Kansas, and a lifetime subscription
to The Magazine of Sigma Chi.
Merritt was first selected as OSU's Delta Gamma 2010 member and was named the Oklahoma-Arkansas
Province IBA winner, only the second time since 1940 that a member of the Oklahoma-Arkansas
Province has been tapped to receive the honor. He also will serve on the International
Sigma Chi Executive Committee for the next two years.
He received his bachelor’s degree in animal science, and is the son of Michael and
Brenda Merritt of Ardmore.
