OSU Alumni Association honoring five with Distinguished Alumni Award

The Oklahoma State University Alumni Association is pleased to honor five alumni with
the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award for their professional achievements and community
service.
The five award recipients will be recognized at a public reception Saturday, Sept.
18, at 4 p.m. at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center and later in the day at the
OSU football game against Tulsa.
Bob Adams, D.O. of Kirkland, Wash., is a 1977 graduate of the Center for Health Sciences.
He is currently serving as the team physician for the USA Track and Field Team and
is a member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine Board of Directors.
He is a Life Member of the OSU Alumni Association.
Mark Allen of Edmond, Okla., received his bachelor’s degree in finance from OSU in
1981. Allen is president of Advance Food Company. Allen is a member of the State
Chamber of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Business Roundtable. He serves on the OSU Foundation
Board of Governors and is a Member of the OSU Alumni Association.
Rand Elliott of Oklahoma City, Okla., received his bachelor’s degree in architecture
from OSU in 1973. He is the president of Elliott + Associates Architects. Elliott
is an internationally acclaimed architect and has received numerous awards and honors
for his work across the U.S. as well as internationally. In 2005, Elliott + Associates
won its ninth AIA Honor Award, given to the best projects in the world.
C.W. (Bill) Harrison of Lindsay, Okla., received his bachelor’s degree in agronomy
from OAMC in 1955. After graduation, Harrison took over the ownership of the Harrison
Gypsum Company, later serving as Harrison Gypsum and Allied Custom Gypsum Boards Chairman.
He serves on the OSU Foundation Board of Governors, is a Lifetime Member of the OSU
Alumni Association Leadership Council and is a Life Member of the Association.
David A. Waits of Stillwater, Okla., received a bachelor’s degree in economics and
a master’s degree in geography from OSU in 1986 and 1988, respectively. He is the
President and CEO of SST Software. Waits serves on the OSU Foundation Board of Governors
and is a Member of the OSU Alumni Association.
Kick off for the Tulsa vs. OSU football game has been set for 6 p.m. at Boone Pickens
Stadium. Association members can purchase discounted tickets by going to http://orangeconnection.org/footballdiscount. The honorees will also be recognized during the Cowboy Corral, which will open at
the Alumni Center at 2:30 p.m.
