OSU and OU team up to present the 2010 Executive Education Partnership Program

Friday, August 13, 2010

Fifty-one participants representing 16 business organizations from Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas recently participated in an executive education program on the campus of Oklahoma State University.

The Executive Education Partnership Program is a premier program for business and government organizations. It is a collaboration of Oklahoma State University, the University of Oklahoma and 12 major state corporations and organizations to provide insight into the many challenges faced in today’s business environment. Lee Manzer, OSU Spears School marketing professor, and Daniel Ostas, James G. Harlow, Jr. Chair in Business Ethics and legal studies professor in the OU Michael F. Price College of Business, served as program coordinators.

“The Partnership Program provided an opportunity for corporate executives to see that others are facing similar issues, but perhaps approaching them in different ways,” said Manzer. “The variety of topics covered and the networking opportunities generated discussions and the sharing of ideas and solutions. This sharing of information between academics, industry experts and executives is beneficial and rewarding for the participants and their organizations.”

During the five-day stay in Stillwater, participants had the opportunity to learn from many speakers from the two comprehensive state universities and other organizations. The program is designed to broaden the participant’s perspective; increase understanding of the changing structure of the organization to make them more competitive; increase understanding of the special functions and responsibilities of business in society; improve analytical and decision-making skills; and increase ability to work effectively through team building.

“The Partnership Program was an intense week of learning, teamwork, collaboration and decision-making while at the same time provided a platform to receive feedback regarding communication styles and emotional intelligence,” said Yvonne Holmes, ConcocoPhillips Corporate Human Relations manager, and 2010 participant.  “The facilitators were some of the best and the week was well worth the time and financial investment.”

The 2011 Executive Education Partnership Program is set for July 25-29, 2011. Information about the 2011 program will be available in January.  The 2010 program was sold out with a waiting list, so early registration is encouraged.
