OSU grad Stritzke to deliver OSU Commencement

Oklahoma State University alumnus and successful business executive Jerry Stritzke will be the featured speaker for the OSU Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 18, at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater.  Stritzke is president and chief operating officer at Coach, a leading American designer and manufacturer of luxury lifestyle handbags and accessories.

The Graduate College commencement ceremony will be on Friday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m., and the two undergraduate commencement ceremonies are set for Saturday, Dec. 18, starting at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.  

The 10:30 a.m. Saturday ceremony will honor students from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, College of Arts and Sciences, and College of Education.  The 1:30 p.m. ceremony will recognize students from the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, the Spears School of Business, and the College of Human Environmental Sciences.

“We are pleased and honored to have Jerry Stritzke deliver this year’s commencement address,” said OSU President Burns Hargis. “His successful career and leadership positions in the ultra-competitive fashion industry gives him much to inspire this year’s graduates.  OSU prepares students for leadership and success and Jerry is a shining example.”

Stritzke received a bachelor of science degree from OSU, and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Oklahoma.  He joined Coach as an executive officer in March of 2008 and was named president and chief operating officer in July 2008.

From 1999 through August 2007, Stritzke held several senior executive positions within the Limited Brands, Inc. organization including chief operating officer and co-leader of Victoria’s Secret, which included Victoria Secret Stores, Victoria’s Secret Direct, Victoria’s Secret Beauty and Pink. While with Limited Brands, he also served as chief executive officer of MAST Industries, Inc., one of the world’s largest contract manufacturers, importers and distributors of men’s and women’s apparel.

From 1993 until 1999, he was a consultant with the retail consulting firm of Webb and Shirley. In 1992, he practiced law at Stritzke Law Office and until then, he was a partner at Best Sharp, Sheridan & Stritzke after joining them as an associate in 1985.
