OSU students eligible for $500 scholarships, grand prize worth $1,000

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

The OSUccess competition for scholarship money kicked off its second installment Oct. 1 for Oklahoma State University students and continues through Nov. 23 at noon.

This competition provides a great way for students to get creative and show school pride. Students can enter in one of three ways: an essay of up to 300 words, a picture with a caption up to 30 words long, or an original video not longer than 30 seconds. Entries should answer the question, “What is your portrait of success at OSU?”

The OSUccess contest is sponsored by the Oklahoma State University Foundation as part of the Branding Success campaign benefitting OSU.

“We support this program because it helps students and also invites them to join the conversation about success,” said Kirk Jewell, president and CEO of the OSU Foundation. “It also reminds participants about the value of philanthropy, which is why we are planning to bring it back each fall and spring semester during the Branding Success campaign.”

There will be six winners, with the best two entries in each medium receiving $500 scholarships. Also, the best entry overall will receive an additional $500 scholarship, making the grand prize $1,000.

To see the entries submitted thus far, visit the live feed on OSUccess.com. There, you can see how OSU students picture success and also view the entries from the previous contest last spring.

“It was so easy to enter,” said Jezire Hudson, a spring 2010 winner. “I just followed the instructions, came up with an idea, and then submitted it, not expecting to win. It was nice to receive that scholarship as it helped me pay for my study-abroad trip that I took in the summer.”

Complete rules and more details are available at OSUccess.com.

The OSU Foundation serves as the private fundraising organization for OSU, as designated by the OSU Regents. Its mission is to unite donor and university passions and priorities to achieve excellence.
