OSU transit operator places second in state bus roadeo

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

OSU Transit Operator, Jim Henning, is in a class of his own when it comes to his ability to operate a transit bus.  On October 21, 2010, Jim, along with the best transit operators in the state, tested his skills on a competition driving course, but no BMW or Mercedes sport cars where on site.  Rather, these professional drivers operated 24 foot buses though precision turns, diminishing clearances and other tests of skill related to the daily use and operation of a transit bus – all for the chance to be named best transit operator in the state.

Jim qualified for the State Bus Roadeo after his outstanding performance in a local competition with other OSU Transit Operators at the 7th Annual Bus Roadeo in Stillwater.  The Bus Roadeo in Stillwater is a time where all transit drivers test their skills, but it is also a time when celebrity drivers get the chance to drive a transit bus on the competition course to see how their skills stack up to those of the professional drivers.  For more information about the Bus Roadeo in Stillwater, please contact the transit office at 744-2832.

In the end, Jim placed second in the 2010 State Bus Roadeo, just a few points shy of capturing first place.  Everyone at OSU Parking and Transit Services would like to congratulate Jim on his accomplishments and we wish him the best of luck in next year’s competitions.
